In September 2013 I visited the beautiful city of Valencia during a four day city trip to Spain.

We stayed in the Petit Palace Bristol hotel, located in the historic centre of the city. From there it was easy to visit all main attractions by foot. The hotel, while being small, is ideal for city trippers. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and highly recommend it.

DAY ONE : Arrival

After arriving at the airport we took the metro towards the city centre. We arrived pretty late in the afternoon, but we still managed to do a quick walk towards the train station, Colosseum and Cathedral before the sun set.

The view from the hotel balcony was amazing. Located right in the centre of the city, next to one of the Cathedrals, it was easy to explore the city by foot.

DAY TWO : Ciudad de Las Artes y Las Ciencias

The City of Arts and Sciences is a big complex located in the South end of the Green Belt that runs on the East border of the historic part of the city. We walked the distance from Serranos Towers till the Arts & Sciences complex, a distance of about 4km.

The Green Belt mainly consists out of plants and trees and is separated from traffic, many people use it to run, cycle or walk. Halfway towards the Arts & Sciences complex, you'll pass by Palau de la Musica.

The complex consists out of several buildings with amazing architecture and an Aquarium called Oceanographic, which  was the only building we visited.

Oceanographic is huge. When you enter you're immediately taken underground where a labyrinth of tunnels bring you to the various big aquariums housing all sorts of fish, big and small. It was very hot the day we visited, being underground helped us escape the burning sun for at least a couple of hours.

Most of the big aquariums also had glass tunnels, giving the impression as if you were actually in the water with the fish. I was pretty impressed when we got to see the big sharks and manta ray passing by and over.

DAY THREE : Valencia Historic Centre

Since Valencia is very compact, it was easy to vist most attractions in one day. The many cathedrals, Serranos Towers, historic government buildings, etc.

DAY FOUR : Central Market

On our final day we visited Central Market. This building houses plenty of local shop owners selling everything from fish to meat.
