Bruges

I first visited Bruges in August 2015.

The medieval city, with beautifully restored architecture was on my list for a long time. I traveled by train. From the train station the historic centre is a 15 minute walk away. It's a very beautiful city with a great vibe.

Bruges is best known for its Belfry, a large tower in the middle of the central square. It formerly housed a treasury and the municipal archives and served as an observation post for spotting fires and other danger. We did not enter the tower due to time constraints, but it was impressive to see from the outside and hear the bells ringing.

On sunny days there's plenty of activity on canals. We did not partake in a boat trip through Bruges.
